we are such stuff as dreams are made on

William Shakespeare

This contemporary dance performance is inspired by the original Shakespeare play ‘The Tempest’. It relates to the themes of the original play and especially to the title and to being in a storm, both figuratively and concretely. The choreography is based on the physical and bodily conditions of being in a storm, just as the music is composed with inspiration from nature’s sounds such as raindrops, the sound of the wind and the powerful thunderstorms.

Throughout life, we find ourselves in stormy weather. We dream about changes or even about becoming someone else. When the storm has settled, we must find our way back home. We see things in a new perspective, dream about new ways, new places, find ourselves in a new reality to which we must relate. Until the stormy weather hits again.

Being in the eye of the hurricane can be terrifying. But even when it seems darkest, it is possible to take control of your own destiny, to step out and find your way back home.

Choreographer Antonio Quiles has many years of experience from Europe, Asia and South and North America, both as a dancer and choreographer in Contemporary Dance and Inclusive Arts. He is employed as a teacher and choreographer at the Spanish internationally renowned dance company Danza Mobile, where he teaches and develops performances with dancers with disabilities.
